Your CV needs to focus on your Technical and Functional skills, once you reach interview stage this is where you would have the opportunity to be assessed on your behavioral traits.
1. Professional Profile:
I am a keen conscientious hard working and reliable person. I have a strong personality, analytical mind, excellent interpersonal skills, self motivation…… etc etc
Who does this remind you of – you? Now here’s the problem you’re all saying that. This could be anyone of you…..
You need to focus on your Technical and Functional Skills. Your Professional Profile needs to cover the following areas:
- What are you? Qualified Accountant CIMA looking to work Part time
- What is your Core Value Proposition? What is your single driving factor?
- What are you particularly good at?
- Align this with the Jobs in the market at present
Think of a book blurb on the back of a book. It tells you in a few sentences what the story is about and highlights the main points. That’s what you need to do summarise yourself in a few punchy sentences.
Key Skills/Expertise:
- Menu of your skills
- Use Key words and phrases
- 10-14 skills should be listed
Use this section as your shop window to highlight your main skills and what you are good at.
2. Career Highlights:
- Demonstrable and relevant evidence of your ability to Deliver Results
- STAR (Situation Task Actions Results ) Key Milestones
- Examples must be relevant and targeted
Have a look back at your previous appraisals to remind you of your achievements and what you excelled at.
3. Career History:
- 8-10 years’ experience in reverse chronological order.
- Include Company details and information on the role your filled
- Earlier career cover in one line per position
4. Education/Qualifications/Professional Development
- The most recent and relevant information should be included here such as MSC, Masters or Degree
5. Personal Details
- Contact Details including Mobile and Email address
Number of Pages – There is no right or wrong answer to this. It should be based on the strength of content, quality and relevance.
